On our trip to China with the IPA, rightly so, she called me "kid" and regaled me with stories from her retired police days. All I could do was to listen, laugh and admire the bravado with which she continued to carry herself. Twenty years later, I still consider her to be one of my NYPD mentors...

Unfortunately, I was only able to work with Vivian for a short time before she transferred out of the 61Pct. I have to say she was always nice, approachable, friendly & a great boss. She was funny as the day is long & everyone seemed to always flock to her. It must've been her effervescence.... She was present at our girl parties held at Debs house and of course, she was the life of the party! All I can say is what I observed and I'm sad that such a wonderful person has left us.. I know she will be sorely missed by family & friends because if I feel this way about her and I hardly knew her, I can't imagine what the loss would be for her loved ones & close friends. Heaven has inherited their angel back & I am glad she has run her life's race with dignity, grace and perseverance. She's the epitome of an American Dream.. All Gods Blessings to you Vivian, for surely you were golden to the many, many people you've touched in your short time here. Rest easy & be at peace.

What can be said about Vivian, that anyone who knew her, doesn't already know ?
That she was kind ? We all know she was. That she was a great cop, and an even better Supervisor ? Everyone who had the honor and privilege of having worked with her
already knows that too. I'm not very good at writing condolences, They are difficult. But I felt I just had to write something about Vivian because she was so very special. She was a true lady. And she was tough, but at the same time as gentle as a lamb. She was diplomatic. Soft spoken, and she never had to raise her sweet voice to get her point across.
Vivian was a world traveler. I, on the other hand was not. However we did manage to take a few weekend trips together. The first one being a long weekend in the mountains of upstate New York. The OLD Police Camp was reopening after about 25 years. Vivian and I wanted to be up there for the grand reopening, so we reserved a room for us for the weekend. I will never forget that weekend. The drive alone was an adventure ! I was fascinated by the way Viv handled that great BIG old Lincoln. Driving along these little tiny winding mountain roads. I would have been terrified if anyone else had been at the helm, but Vivian navigated that car with the ease in which a child maneuvers a skateboard ! Vivian touched my life in many ways. She was a role model, a teacher, a mentor, a supervisor, but most important she was a FRIEND, in the very truest sense of the word. So, farewell my friend and thank you for EVERYTHING you gave me. The guidance, the support. But most of all, the joy, the laughter, the memories. I will treasure those gifts for the rest of my life. Love, Debbie

I am saddened by the passing of Vivian, but reminded of the joy I felt when we worked together. She was a great squad commander whose guidance and advice was much appreciated. Considered a friend my thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends. RIP my friend.

It is such a sad day to read that a friend ,Supervisor , Co- worker and a Great all round person has passed.
As I passed her house the other week I did notice the Greek and American Flags were at half Staff, but, little did I know it was for Vivian. Going to Walgreens, Lowe's or Home Depot will no longer be the same for me. I thought of her often.
My deepest regrets for your loss.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Vivian. I remember her when she was the CO of the 76 Sq. She was well liked by her Detectives and all those who she came in contact with. I was not informed about her background, but after reading of her accomplishments of attaining a Master's degree, well it just showed you how determined she was in life. The Police Department was a better place to work because of Vivian and my prayers go out for her and her family. You have a lot to be proud. It was a pleasure knowing her.
May she be with Our Lord in Heaven.
