When I think of you uncle Joe it always brings a smile to my face. You would keep me spellbound listening to your stories about your WWII experiences. You gave me bullets that you brought back to the States from the battles in which you fought. I treasured those as a small boy growing up.
You and Grandpa used to have excercise routines that you taught me and at 66 years old they are still relevant today. I do many of them 4 days a week. The stretches that you taught me have made growing older much easier. Thanks Uncle Joe!
Also, thanks for making my childhood so memorable. The subway to the beach and the rides at Coney Island were experiences that I shared with you that I will never forget.
My mother looked up to her older brother and was so fond of you. I'm sorry that she didn't get to grow old nearby you and Aunt Vi and the rest of her siblings.
Thanks for being a great uncle...god's speed to you and your family.

My childhood has a memory of this wonderful man being like a 2nd father to me in the Castle Hill Projects in The Bronx. Being together with the Policella family for many occasions was always lots of fun. Joe always made us smile with his antics and funny jokes and wonderful smile. Halloween is approaching and I especially remember Joe and my father, Marco, getting together at our building in the Projects and the men being responsible for giving out the candy. In the meantime, my mother, Viola and all us kids started on the 12th floor of the building and worked our way down, floor by floor, until we were back on the 1st floor. It took hours. The two men must have enjoyed their time together. My heart goes out to all the Policella family. Deepest condolences and all our love.....from Indira, Sonina, Anil & Yvonne Velasquez.

Joe's love of life was obvious even when we met him for the first time late in his life. His good humor shone through his eyes and his happiness and optimism was catching. He will be missed by all.
