Obituary of Carmela "Millie" Sankey
Carmela "Millie' Sankey passed away peacefully on Tuesday February 9, 2016.
She was born on July 16, 1921 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Sabbato & Angelina DeJoseph.
Having lived a blessed long life coming from a large family and in return starting an extended family for a next generation, Millie lived a life of family and friends. Her "open door policy" made everyone she met feel loved and accepted. Her hearty cooking and motherly instinct set the table of welcome and hospitality for anyone who graced her home. Millie's matriarchal passing marks the end of an era for generations past, who's life focus was family, friends and a society where neighbors were true to each other.
Widow of the late George. Dedicated mother of George his wife Joanne, Deborah, Barbara Raspante, William and his wife Diane, Theresa Harkins her husband Brian, Christine Docu and Jeanette Wolfson with her husband Louis. Millie was predeceased in life by her son in law Rick Raspante, daughter in law Theresa Sankey and son in law Thomas Docu.
Her cherished grandchildren George, Jason,Kristen, Peter, Jonathan, Julie, Paul, Melissa, Lori, Jessica, William, Edward, Jennifer, Brian, Mary, Harry, Luke, Tom, Alexandra, Patricia, Kristy, Gregory and for all those like Millie who kept the faith know Blessed Nicky greeted her after she peacefully slipped away on the other side.
Darling great grandchildren Tyler, Ryan, Jason, Justin, Ashley, Brianna, Lucas, Michael, Melissa, Lily, Peter, Ian, Dylan, Katherine, Carter, Cora, Natale and Colin.
A dear sister, aunt, great aunt, cousin and friend of those she loved.
Our Lady of Mount Carmel pray for us
Eternal Rest Grant unto Millie O' Lord and let Perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in Peace, AMEN. And may her soul, Rick, Theresa, Tom and Blest Nicky's soul through the Mercy of God Rest in Peace, AMEN.
