Obituary of Marie Arena

Marie Arena passed away on December 30, 2016 in the loving arms of her children. The eldest daughter of Mary and Rocco Statuto, Marie Jane, aka Jennie, was born on October 17th, 1924. Beloved wife of 52 years of the late Patsy J. Arena. Loving mother of Frank Arena and daughter-in-law, Marian & Marie Arena-Forte and son-in-law, Leon. Cherished grandmother of Amanda Arena. Jennie is predeceased by her 2 younger sisters and her best friends, Josephine Russo and Carmela Byrnes. Together with her sisters and brothers-in-law, Anthony Russo and William Byrnes and her husband, Patsy, they were fondly known as "The Big Six"! They enjoyed each other's company and companionship in life and are now reunited in eternal life. Jennie had a special devotion to the Blessed Mother and Saint Anthony, we ask that you please join us in reciting a prayer for Jennie to her patron saint. O glorious St. Anthony, safe refuge of the afflicted and distressed, who by miraculous revelation has directed all those who seek aid to come to Thy altar with the promise that whosoever visits it for nine consecutive Tuesdays, and there piously invokes thee, will feel the power of the intercession. I, a poor sinner, encouraged by this promise, come to thee. O powerful Saint, and with a firm hope I implore thy aid, thy protection, thy counsel and thy blessing. Obtain for me, I beseech thee my request in this necessity. But if it should be opposed to the Will of God and the welfare of my soul, obtain for me such other graces as shall be conducive to my salvation. Through Christ our Lord.
