Obituary of James Leahy
James Leahy died peacefully at home surrounded by those he loved on Monday July 17, 2017. He was 78. The son of the late Matthew & Julia Leahy, Jim was born July 18, 1938 in Brooklyn; NY.
Jim joined Riverside Memorial Chapel where he became a member of Local 1034. What started off as a job lead to Jim's realization he found a vocation, helping people at one of the most vulnerable times of their lives. A leader among men and his peers Jim was elected as a Business Rep to Local 1034, continuing a life of helping his fellow brothers when it counted most. James Leahy built a name for himself leading to become President of Local 1034, at its time the largest organized group in the United States of Funeral Service Professionals.
Jim left his devoted wife Peggy (nee Murdoch) at his bedside. Loving father of Matthew Leahy; John Christman; Laura Bosies and the late Andrew Christman. Dear grandfather of Jessica; Michael; Anthony; John; Kathleen; Nicholas and Olivia. A Brother in Law, Uncle, Friend, Father in law and Union Brother who will be missed. Requiem In Pace.
Reposing Wednesday 2 to 5 and 7 to 9:00PM at The Marine Park Funeral Home. Final Viewing Thursday 9 to 9:30AM at which point the Funeral Procession will form. A Mass of The Resurrection will be Celebrated 10:00AM at Good Shepherd R.C. Church. Interment to follow in the family plot St. Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale.
