I walked 100s of horses with Tony as a hotwalker in the 80's at Aqueduct. A good soul he was indeed..

I don’t remember the last time I saw Anthony, his Dad was my grandmothers brother so he was my 2nd cousin. I know he has a sister Angela so I’d like to send her my condolences. May he Rest In Peace Anthony. We have more family in heaven then we have on earth, so I know you are with all our cousins, Aunts, Uncles, parents and grandparents and you will not be lonely .

I am very sorry to hear of Tony's passing. Although its been many years since I have had contact with Tony, I have many fond memories of walking to and from the Nite Owl from Coleman St. with him. Although Tony was a NY Islander fan, and I a Ranger fan, we always found it a pleasure to rip on each other whenever our teams beat each other. Tony was a big part of growing up along Flatbush Ave, and the Marine Park area for many years. He was a gentleman who will be certainly be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Tony, I'll raise a glass in your honor and ask that you have one waiting for me when we meet again!! Your friend.... Pat

To the family and close friends of Mr. Montevago. May you draw comfort and peace from our Heavenly Father who comforts us during our trials. He is well aware of our pain and sorrow, and in time will reverse all our sufferings during his Kingdom by Christ. (Matthew 6:9,10; Revelation 21:4)

Tony has been a friend of mine for over 35 years, and he was always funny, honest, always a true gentleman.Whether discussing horses, current events, or anything that came up, you knew his opinion, but without rancor. He disliked bullies and would verbally challenge them without fail. He was entertaining and a very good man.He will be missed by myself and so many of my friends who grew up in the Nite Owl, and went on to form great friendships with Tony. My wife and I send our heartfelt condolences to his family. The world is now a duller place.
