I am so sorry to hear of Joey's passing. Being a childhood friend of Linda's gave me ample opportunity to spend time with Joey & Elaine growing up. He always made me feel welcome. He was funny and kind and sincere. He will always hold a special place in my heart

Thanks, dad. Great father. Great husband. Great provider. Charming. Funny. Talented. Taught me how to live a life, strong and smart. Sat, in the rain, in his cars. Listening to raindrops strike the car surfaces. Talking about life. He "Tom Sawyered" me into completing house projects...thereby imparting the info on to me. His critiques of the finished jobs were always positive. Took kids to the beach. Played in the oceans and pools with us. Protected his family with courage and resourcefulness. Great memories, as long as we can all stilll remember! Everone's lifetime friend.

Sorrowful heart felt condolences to Elaine, Robby, Linda & grandsons. So sad.
I will always remember you Joe as my awesome next door neighbor. You were my wise friend & mentor with the best advice & always with hidden innuendos to make me think & usually bust out laughing when I got it. You had a way with words & always made a hard situation seem a lot easier to handle.
I loved your smile & the twinkle in your eye like you had something earth shattering amazing to tell me but would just say good morning, isn't it great to wake up alive?
You use to laugh because my dog Sara ran out door in the morning ahead of me to jump in Elaine's chair to sit next to you & I'd have to sit on the stoop until Elaine would come out & shoosh her off so she could sit. This was our everyday routine.
I miss early morning coffee & the newspaper with you on your front porch. I was ticked that I had to wear glasses & you didn't. I'd just say hmpf. when you teased me about it. Years later when I visited you, you were finally wearing glasses reading the paper & I got to get a jab at you about it but you just smiled & said, they're just for reading & how many years older am I than you? I will always have the fondest memories of you & hope to see you higher up again on the next front porch. Goodbye Joe.

Joey Riess was like a surrogate father to me. I spent more time at his home with his family than I did at my own. He taught me many things, including how to drive like a maniac, bowl like a pro, play paddleball and handball, and even let me win the boxball championship. He was strong, knowledgeable, funny(made me pee my pants several times) and took me to the beach every weekend. He will be rememberef and greatly, sorely missed. I remain lifelong friends with Robby and Linda, whom I consider family. Elaine...all my love..always.
