Billy was always a source of kindness, fun and laughter. Whenever we saw him at family events, he would always encourage me to “keep sending me those Christmas cards with the pictures of your beautiful kids.” He will be missed. My family sends our condolences. May he Rest In Peace.

I got the biggest kick out of being around cousin Billy Flaherty, and I am so sorry to hear of his passing. He would light up family gatherings with his stories and observations. He would get my sisters and me confused with each other and call us all 4 of the names to see which one landed, or just call us Billy & Mary’s girls. We knew when we saw him that we were in for a night of lots of laughter. He was a force to be reckoned with and I am glad I knew him. Tonight I will put extra pepper in my beer, make a toast in his honor, and say a prayer for the heartbreak of his family.

Dear Therese & Family, Your dad, "Billy", was the handsomest boy in the "Terrace" He delivered our Brooklyn Eagle and I would rush to the door just to see him! I had a terrible crush on him when I was a preteen, Years later when seeing him in all the local hangouts I realized my little girl admiration was well deserved. He would regale us all with his funny stories. It was a joy just to watch him! My last conversation with him was memorable and ended with his inviting my sister and I for a drink at Rhythm & Booze......all the good ones are leaving us! So sad....
My Sincere Condolences to you and your sisters, & the rest of the Family

To the family and close friends, please accept my deepest condolences for your loss. Though few words will sooth your hearts, may the scriptural promise by our Lord Christ about the resurrection at John 5:28,29 comfort you during this time of bereavement.

I was blessed to have Billy Flaherty as my uncle and Godfather. He was one of the most loving and alive people I’ve ever known, and as a result made everyone whose path he crossed also feel more loved and alive. He had a way of making everybody feel special..especially during times when they might not be feeling so special in life. Although he will be missed by so many, his legacy will live on by all who remember him and try to live at least a little as he did. Lots of love and prayers for his four beautiful and amazing daughters, who loved him so deeply and served him so faithfully, who I am also blessed to call my cousins and friends. Rest In Peace Uncle Billy, until we are reunited in the day of our Savior Jesus Christ.

I'm very sorry for the loss of your loved one. Losing someone special is one of the most difficult experiences a family will face. May the many hugs caring thoughts and prayers be of comfort. May God(Psalm 83:18) strengthen you for the days ahead, Psalm 29:11

My thoughts and prayers are with the entire family. Billy was a loving dad and it was my honor to have worked and learn from him as his NYPD Partner. It was wonderful to visit with him and the girls at Erin's house for his most recent birthday. I know that you girls are hurting. You have the comfort of knowing dad loved all of you very much. God Bless one of the great ones.

I have known Billy since I was about 18 and he worked in Marmalade Park. One of the nicest men and the funniest man that I ever have known. Now Heaven has a great Bartender and a lot of laughs. Rest in Peace Billy.

To All of Billy's Family,
We are saddened by Billy's passing but so very grateful our paths crossed in life. We met when Don and Billy worked in the 71 Pct. together. Years of smiles and some serious discussions ensued as we traveled around Manhattan and Brooklyn following him to all the establishments he worked. His daughters babysat for us a few times and their kindness was another testament to wonderful parenting. We will miss Billy.
Sincerely,
Donald & Judy Black

In my lifetime, I shared the benefit of being a friend Billy and his brother Joe, two unique and intelligent men who understood the values of friendship, conviviality, humor and the broad smile of a true wit. Billy will be missed dearly by those who had the pleasure of knowing him. My best to his family and friends.
