Mike was a good man and police officer. He was part of our family who all started out at the 155th St academy known as Harlem University. Transit Forever! My sincere condolences to the Scarpitta family.

My condolences to the family on your loss. I found Michael's obituary because I was searching for more info on his mother, Antonia, who I believe was my great grandfather, Antonio Floridia's, niece. If anyone from the family could contact me at sheenaahlmer@gmail.com , I can send a picture of Tony and a copy of his naturalization paperwork. He came from Capaci, Palermo, Sicily, Italy, and I believe his brother Pietro was Antonia's father. My great aunt has memories of an "Uncle Pietro" visiting Tony in Pottsville, PA, that that Pietro possibly owned a bakery? My family also recalls Tony's family visiting with that last name Scarpitta, possibly in the 1950s.
