Obituary of Sana Razzano

Sana Gozo Razzano was born on August 30^th 1924 to Carmela and Nicholas Gozo at their home on 71^st Street and 21^st Avenue. Sana was the eldest of three; Florence Gozo DiGrazia (deceased) and Nicholas Gozo. She graduated Girls Commercial and became a talented milliner working with all the Fifth Avenue shops; her favorite was designing hats at Lord and Taylor.  On February 15, 1948, at Saint Mark’s, she married “her” Johnny and together they shared three children John A. Razzano, Joan Sarro, and Camille Abenanty. 

Her creativity was amazing and so was her love for her family and friends.   A grandmother to six, she enjoyed every visit and always made their favorites when she knew they were visiting.  Her handcrafted gifts were exquisite; her paintings, crochet and knitting were just a few.

An amazing baker, Sana always had coffee and freshly baked goods ready for whomever came to her back door.  She always said “back door friends are the best”.    On summer evenings she and her wonderful friends, “The Golden Girls,” would sit on her porch and update each other on their day.  It was a joy to be able to sit with them and hear their stories. Everyone who passed that Stuart Street porch would stop and chat.

On June 3^rd, 2016 Sana suffered a stroke, the first of many; she showed strength, faith, and love until the Lord peacefully called her into his arms on April 9^th. Thank you, Menorah Hospice, for the affectionate care, love, and respect you gave Sana. 

Sana was very devoted to the Blessed Mother. She said the rosary every day and would pray the Hail Mary over and over from morning to night. Please say a Hail Mary in her honor and for the people all over the world who need prayers today.
