Obituary of William R Boyd
William R. Boyd, Jr., age 73, passed away on October 12, 2021. Billy was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY where he spent most of his life. He served as a “Green Beret” in Vietnam from 1968-1971, earning the Purple Heart twice. He then became one of New York’s Bravest in 1973. He was a proud member of Engine 216 until his retirement in January 2001. Upon retiring from the FDNY, he moved to California but he always remained a Brooklyn boy at heart. He was a devoted to his late son R.J. and is survived by his beloved wife Irene and his siblings Stephen, Betty, Richie and Laurie, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He will also be remembered and mourned in many, many bars throughout the borough of Brooklyn and beyond.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May William's soul and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
Memorial Visitation to take place on Sunday, November 14 from 2:00 - 7:00 PM at Marine Park Funeral Home, 3024 Quentin Road, Brooklyn.
