My sincerest condolences to the family and dear friends of John (Known in the Con Edison world as Jack).
I met Jack 1970 In was a new helper assigned to the Brooklyn underground department. Jack was not the first splicer I helped, but he was not like the rest of the splicers of the time. Jack worked at a nice pace and even took the time to explain what he was doing, that was unusual, most others wanted to get a finish and go (the con ed guys will know that term). I moved around in the company and, next worked in the emergency bureau with Jack. There he shared a few tricks of the trade with me. he moved on to the office, as a dispatcher. A few years later He was retiring, and I went into the office and became a dispatcher, He had already retired and left the company, he found out I had taken that position and called me to give me the scoop on the job. You might say I kind of followed in his footsteps. Hopefully I will enjoy future days as My Friend JACK Did.
