Obituary of Joseph Scarfuto
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joseph Scarfuto, a cherished soul who peacefully entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at the remarkable age of 100. Joseph was born on February 9, 1923, in the heart of Brooklyn, New York, to the late Dominico and Carolina (Daria) Scarfuto.
Joseph, a brave and honorable man, served his country during World War II as a member of the Army. Following his military service, he dedicated his working years as a Longshoreman, contributing to the vibrant life of the bustling Brooklyn waterfront.
He was the beloved husband of the late Nancy Scarfuto, and together they built a legacy of love and family. Joseph's memory will forever live on in the hearts of his devoted children: Joseph Scarfuto (Eileen), Nancy Krasnor (the late Jeff Krasnor), Carol Tsigourakos (Lefty), Patricia Roca (Dom), and Billy Scarfuto (Lizette).
Joseph leaves behind a profound legacy as a cherished grandfather to Laura (Walter), Christine (Rob), Anthony (Anita), Karen, Joseph (Alana), Jessica, Michael, Miranda, Kimberly, Julie, and William. Additionally, he is remembered as a dear great-grandfather to Lyla, Bryce, Caeley, Ryder, Nancy, Annie, Gabriella, AJ, Archie, and Leo.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Marine Park Funeral Home, 3024 Quentin Road, Brooklyn, NY, on Friday, November 24, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 25, at 9:30 AM at Our Lady Help of Christians R.C. Church, 1315 East 28th Street, Brooklyn.
Following the service, Joseph will find his final resting place in St. John's Cemetery, Middle Village, Queens.
