Obituary of Marion Coutsouros
Marion Coutsouros, age 86, entered into eternal rest on Monday, February 5, 2024. Born on March 25, 1937, in Brooklyn, New York, Marion was the cherished daughter of the late Salvatore and Evelyn (Engel) Arnone. Beloved mother of Dana Kelly (Richard), John Coutsouros (Katie), and Dean Coutsouros (Susan). Loving grandmother of Thomas Kelly, Kevin Kelly (Caitlin), John Coutsouros, Kristen Coutsouros, Kyle Coutsouros, Danielle Coutsouros, Nikki Coutsouros, and Jill Coutsouros. She now reunites in Heaven with her beloved late grandsons, Michael Kelly and Baby Joseph Coutsouros. Dear “GG” of Cameron Kelly. She also leaves behind many wonderful cousins whom she held dear.
Marion was a woman of immense warmth and generosity, with a heart that touched countless lives. From her Brooklyn roots to her recent life in New Jersey, Marion had a vast network of friends, both old and new. She had a knack for making everyone feel welcomed and loved, often ensuring they did not leave her home without a chocolate biscotti, some candy, or a meal.
Marion shared special bonds with her friends and many cousins. She cherished these relationships deeply, speaking almost daily to them. It was important to Marion to keep in touch with everyone and their families, nurturing connections that brought her immense joy throughout her life. Marion was especially grateful for Mary Dory's friendship and support, particularly during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic, when simple acts of kindness meant the world.
Marion was known for her strength and determination, although sometimes stubborn, endearing to all who knew her. She had a big sense of humor and loved to give everyone a good laugh. She was deeply religious, a woman of unwavering faith, and a devoted parishioner of Our Lady Help of Christians parish for 70 years. Marion's fellow parishioners and friends lovingly referred to her as “The Chocolate Lady” because of her habit of always having a chocolate treat for everyone.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on Friday, February 9, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Marine Park Funeral Home, located at 3024 Quentin Road, Brooklyn.
A Funeral Mass to honor Marion's life will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, February 10, at Our Lady Help of Christians R.C. Church, 1315 East 28th Street, Brooklyn, with Fr. Josh officiating.
As we bid farewell to Marion Coutsouros, may she find eternal peace and be joyfully reunited with those friends who have gone before her.
May Marion’s soul and all the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace.
