Obituary of Thomas Henry Gavitt Jr.
Thomas H. Gavitt, 69 proudly served the FDNY for over 24 years at Engine Co. 253 and Ladder Co. 147. Tom passed away November 27, 2024 after he bravely fought a long hard battle against health issues due to 9/11-WTC. Tom will always be remembered as a hero, loving husband, father, brother and friend to all. He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 51 years Kathryn; daughter Kathryn Scriven (Clarence) Mary Smith (Brian); grandchildren Kali, Lola and Logan; mother Vivian Gavitt; siblings Frederick Gavitt (Jeannie), Helen Poore (Daniel), Joseph Gavitt (Carol) and Robert (Theresa). Many loved nieces, nephews and faithful dog Bonnie.
Waker service will begin on Sunday December 1, 2024 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM and continue on Monday December 2, 2024 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Marine park Funeral Home. 3024 Quentin Road Brooklyn, NY 11234. 718-339-8900.
Funeral mass will be on Tuesday December 3, 2024 at Resurrection Roman Catholic Church at 10:30 AM. 2325 Gerritsen Avenue Brooklyn, NY 11229.
Committal service will immediately follow to Green-Wood Crematory. 500 25th Street Brooklyn, NY 11232.
