Dad was a man of faith. There is a verse in the bible that says, "As your faith is so be it unto you." Dad believed in Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Saviour, I know we will see him again, to spend eternity together.
Thank you dad for always praying for me and my family, I love you. Thank you for all the love you gave to everyone you knew. I don't know any other man that gave so much to so many. You will be missed.
Until we meet again! Sincerely, Pattie.

We wanted to extend our condolescences to the whole family in the passing of John. John was a special man. My dad and he were born in the same year. He always had a smile, a come-back comment and was a real trouper. I will miss him. When my dad was alive he would sit in the IV room with John and they would both talk of the old days and the war.
As the years go on, our war veterans are no longer here. I hope John shared his stories with the grand children
Until we meet again may the good Lord hold Pat, Dawn and the family in the palms of his hands.

This news just shocked me. John was always so strong, so kind, so ready to laugh and make you feel wanted that I really thought he would live forever. I remember him from when I was in 6th grade with Annie, with his dark black hair and eyes and that catching smile. He was such a great story teller with the greatest stories that you could sit and listen to him for hours. What stands out though in my mind the most is when my son met him a couple of years ago at Annie's house and he had given him a hess truck as a gift. He enraptured my Nicholas who didn't stop talking about that nice grandpa John who says funny things and made him laugh. He was that way with everyone. A loving family man who never wanted to stop working..really I think he stopped in his 80s. He was a war hero...but in my mind he was a life hero. Rest in Peace John...

"Old soldiers never die. They just fade away." That describes my uncle. He was a favorite uncle to me when I was growing up, and as my sister Kathryn used
to say, "He's like a kid himself."
I remember my uncle when he bought a barn/bungalow in Lake Carmel from a cowboy
who stored horses there. Over time he made improvements with running water and a
bathroom (no more outhouse). I'll admit the filling of the milk cans at the lake water
spout was a lot of fun.
Rest in peace, Uncle John.

Susan, My best friend in life. My heart hangs heavy for you. Your dad was a wonderful man. He fought an amazing fight in war, as well with his life. He was an amazing father and grandfather. I only know Dawn, and met Annie once in Florida but, I must say, the three of you are the most wonderful and amazing daughter's. His good spirit remains in you, and has defined who you are. Bless him up in heaven. He will always watch over you, Michael(s) and Jason !

I can picture John now standing in line at the gates of heaven... chewing the guys ear off in front of him...."I was with Patton's 3rd Armored Division" it would likely start...this guy in front of him would oblige with a kind nod not recognizing who he was standing with....this man is thinking I've had a full life too and I accomplished the things most of us do while down there, I worked, I raised a family and I found ways to serve my fellow man you know like I paid my taxes when they were due..
but with in about 5 minutes of listening to our John he would already know he was not in the midst of another ordinary man he was standing in line with one of this countries true heroes. The stories he's telling their true..they are all true. Recognizing Johns heroism in war and in life...(by now Johns onto)..."so after I retired from the second job, I looked for a third one"...and the stranger finally takes stock of his life and says to John..."you go on ahead of me, please you earned it."

I didn't really know John, having only met him briefly several years ago. But I can say this, he must have been an outstanding human being to have fathered Annie and Dawn, who I know quite well. These two women are devoted and loyal daughters. And Pat is the type of human being that any man would be proud to call his beloved wife. Simply from knowing these three people alone, I can testify to his humanity, his excellence and an impressive life well lived. My condolences to the entire family.
